PhD Defense, Feb. 5, Robin Wegge

Mr. Robin Wegge of Ruhr-Universität Bochum has submitted the following academic thesis:

Thermodynamic Properties of the (Argon + Carbon Dioxide) System: Instrument Development with Density and Speed-of-Sound Measurements

The defence will take place on February 5, 2016 at Ruhr-Universität Bochum in the engineer’s building ‚IC. The assessment committee consists of:

  • Head: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Viktor Scherer
  • 1st Reviewer: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Roland Span
  • 2nd Reviewer: Dr.-Ing. Markus Richter

In Germany, a PhD defense consists of two parts: a 30 min presentation, which is public, and a one hour oral examination, which is not public.

Mr. Wegge has investigating the thermodynamic properties of CO2-rich mixtures, and has performed density and speed-of-sound measurements in the (argon + carbon dioxide) system. As part of his project Mr. Wegge spent two months at the National Institute of Standards and Technology win Boulder, Colorado, USA.

The project has been a part of BIGCCS Task 2.2 – CO2Mix.
