The paper illustrates how the CCS chain methodology can be used for determining the most cost-effective options for CO2 transport on a sample case study. Two transport modules were developed in BIGCCS -onshore pipeline and shipping between harbours- to analyze the «switching distance» as a function of CO2 capacity and transport distance. Sensitivity analyses were performed to determine the impact of important factors, such as the geographical context, regional effects of pipeline costs, ownership effects, etc. A link to the article can be found here.
Work is currently in progress for off-shore pipelines and shipping to off-shore storage.
